The Monte Carlo simulation runs thousands of scenarios using different market conditions to show the range of possible outcomes for your financial plan. The chart displays percentiles - the dark green area shows outcomes you can expect 50% of the time, while the lighter areas show less likely but possible scenarios.
Success probability indicates how likely your plan is to meet your financial goals based on historical market data and your current trajectory. A 90% success rate means that in 9 out of 10 similar scenarios, you would achieve your goals. Anything above 70% is generally considered a solid plan.
Canada uses a progressive tax system where you pay different rates on different portions of your income. For example, if you're in Ontario and earn $60,000, you don't pay the highest rate on all your income - you pay lower rates on the first portions and higher rates only on income above certain thresholds. UltraPlan's Tax Bracket Visualizer shows exactly how this works with federal and provincial taxes combined.
Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) estimates are based on your earnings history and age. CPP benefits increase the longer you delay taking them (up to age 70), while OAS begins at 65. UltraPlan uses current government formulas to estimate your benefits, but actual amounts may vary based on future policy changes.
Different planning tools use different assumptions for market returns, inflation, tax rates, and calculation methodologies. UltraPlan uses historical market data and conservative assumptions. Your advisor might use different return assumptions or include additional factors specific to your situation. Both perspectives are valuable for comprehensive planning.
This tab drives all tax calculations, government benefit estimates, and contribution room calculations. Getting this information right first ensures accurate results throughout the rest of your plan.
Always enter your income before taxes and deductions. UltraPlan will calculate taxes based on your province and situation. This ensures accurate tax planning and government benefit calculations.
If your employer matches RRSP or pension contributions, make sure to include this in your savings calculations. It's free money that significantly impacts your long-term wealth building.
Update your plan every three months or after major life changes (job change, marriage, home purchase, etc.). Regular updates keep your projections accurate and help you stay on track.
Setting specific, measurable goals helps maintain focus on what matters most to you. Whether it's early retirement, buying a home, or funding your children's education, clear goals drive better financial decisions.
